More pages from the Buckenham ledger recording the giving out of yarn to linen weavers in North Lopham, Norfolk. The width of cloth was specified most often in quarter yards, such as 3/4 yard huck or 7/4 yard sheeting, but sometimes in fractions of an ell. The English ell was 45 inches or a yard and a quarter. In the first half of 1893 Henery Tyler was weaving 72 or 84 yard lengths of Huck and ‘Double Diamond’ in widths of half an ell, for which he was paid 11 or 14 shillings. Half an ell is 22.5 inches or about 57cm.
